5 fun weekend habits you can start doing as an entrepreneur
6 mistakes every entrepreneur should avoid when growing their business
Are you exhausted and not getting enough sleep? Perhaps anxious about your business’ performance from day-to-day? Are you staying up late thinking about your declining sales report? Losing appetite and lacking the interest to mingle with other people?
If you’re experiencing all these and more, then there’s only one thing that you can do: REST. As an entrepreneur, your instinct is to always stay on top of everything–even if it means sacrificing your health. Being constantly busy might make you feel important at first, but in the long run, it’ll only exhaust you. Don’t let burnout be the downfall of your business! Taking care after yourself is also taking care of your venture.
Still in doubt? Here’s how taking a break will actually help your business move forward:
1. Having a break clears your mind.
Admit it or not, we can only do and think so much for so long. Taking a break will help us regain our composure and clear our heads, so we can think of better strategies moving forward.
You can go and have a quick escape, whether that’s a quick walk in the park or a weekend hike with friends. This way, you clear your mind and give yourself a fresh start in order to strategize better for the days ahead.
2. A break lets you see things in a different light.
Taking a break will remove whatever has been clouding your mind and affecting your decisions. Work can distract you from your troubles, but those troubles will always catch up with you. Talking with loved ones, meditating, or spending quality time with yourself can give you the headspace to deal with what’s bothering you.
Practicing some self-care can help you perceive things in a different light and get rid of the heavy feelings that’ve been affecting your work.
3. It widens your horizons.
You never know when your weekend hobby will help you with your business. Learning a new language, for example, can open up a whole new client segment you’ve never tapped before. Exploring your interests and sharpening your skills will make you a better, happier person–and therefore a better, happier business owner, too.
4. Taking a break will help you prepare for the BIGGER things that are yet to come.
It may be clichè, but when we fail in life – be it in our careers, relationships, or dreams- the universe is simply preparing us for something bigger that’s about to come. Our experiences, failures included, will mold us to become better versions of ourselves.
In order for a business to move forward, the people behind it must learn how to bend, break, and then rise. A decline in sales or a lost client doesn’t mean the end of the world.
Sometimes, it’s just a reminder for us to retreat–but never surrender. To rest but never quit.
As the person in charge, it’s easy to neglect your own needs in favor of your business’ needs. But that’s just a bad strategy. An overworked, distracted, and exhausted business owner can’t lead a business to great success. Find time to breathe, relax, and enjoy yourself.
It’ll help your venture more than it will hurt it!
