List Of Businesses Allowed To Operate Under MECQ

Businesses including barbershops, dine-in restaurants, gyms, review center allowed to operate recently under general community quarantine (GCQ) have been ordered to temporarily shut down again after Metro Manila and provinces of Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal were placed under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ).

Meanwhile, businesses providing essential services or products at this time are allowed to operate at 100 percent capacity. The following are the list of businesses allowed to operating under MECQ:

Agriculture, forestry and fisheries
Production of essential hygiene products, medicines, vitamins, PPEs, masks and other medical supplies
Essential retail such as groceries, markets, convenience stores and drug stores
Water refilling stations
Laundry services
Hospitals, clinics
Logistics services
Delivery and courier services
Telcos, energy and power companies
Gasoline stations
Essential constructions (isolation faciities, etc)
BPOs
Printing
Media
Mining
Electronic commercce
Postal
Funeral, embalming, security
Banks
Capital markets

On the other other hand, businesses allowed to operate at 50 percent capacity under MECQ are the following:

Other manufacturing
Office admin, support
Financial services (money exchange)
Legal and accounting
Management consultancy
Advertising and market research
Architectural activities
Publishing and printing
Film, music, and TV production
Recruitment
Photography
Restaurant delivery and takeout
Malls and commercial centers – non-leisure only

Businesses prohibited to operate under MECQ:

Dine-in services in restaurants
Salons
Barbershops
Establishments offering personal care, aesthetic procedures services
Gyms
Fitness studios
Sports facilities
Testing and tutorial centers
Review centers
Internet cafes
Pet grooming services
Drive-in cinemas

Department of Trade and Industry Secretary Ramon Lopez encouraged businesses that are prohibited to operate under MECQ to take “this break to sufficiently prepare for better processes and facilities for compliance to the health standards.”

“We wish that this move back to MECQ will break the increasing trend of positive COVID-19 cases and will eventually allow us to bring back the much-needed livelihood and jobs to many of our countrymen,” Sec Lopez added in a statement last Monday.
